2024-2025 Childcare Needs Assessment

In 2024, Okanogan County Child Development Association completed a comprehensive assessment of childcare needs. The results told a story that is echoed by families all across the county, here are a few key findings:

  • 77% of respondents reported needing child care for their children 5 years old and younger.

  • 55% of respondents reported that child care has either probably or definitely had an impact on their financial stability

  • 61% reported that alternate child care arrangements would either probably and/or definitely better their ability to find/keep a job

  • 51% of respondents reported that they would have an interest in renting a new apartment if there was child care available on the premises.

  • 70% of parents reported that the cost of child care is the main barrier to receiving high-quality child care.
